Yemeni forces strike Ben Gurion Airport with hypersonic missile in solidarity with Gaza

The Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) have announced a successful strike on Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv using a Palestine-2 hypersonic missile, in a bold show of solidarity with Gaza and as part of their ongoing retaliation against the crimes of the Israeli occupation.
The operation, confirmed Thursday by YAF spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree, achieved its intended objectives. “Millions of Zionists fled to shelters, and airport operations were suspended,” Saree declared, adding that the strike was carried out “in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and as a direct response to the genocide and starvation inflicted on Gaza.”
Israeli media outlets acknowledged explosions near the airport, with the Israeli army claiming it detected the missile launch from Yemen earlier in the day. The incident further exposed the vulnerability of the occupation’s infrastructure to Yemen’s growing military capabilities.
The Yemeni Armed Forces reiterated their unwavering commitment to supporting Palestinian resistance and defending Gaza against occupation plans. “We will remain with you and by your side until victory, with all our available capabilities,” the statement read, vowing continued missile strikes and military actions until the aggression stops and the siege on Gaza is fully lifted.
Since the outbreak of the war on Gaza in October 2023, Yemen has emerged as a formidable force confronting the Israeli entity. Between October 2023 and June 2025, the Yemeni Armed Forces have executed more than 520 operations targeting Israeli territory and maritime routes tied to the occupation. These strikes have employed advanced weaponry, including Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missiles, Yafa drones, precision cruise missiles, and naval units.
The scale of Yemen’s campaign has intensified in recent months. In July 2025 alone, Ansar Allah leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi reported 45 operations in a single week. August has kept pace, with strikes reaching Haifa, Eilat, Beer al-Sabe', and the Al-Naqab Desert.
A major pillar of Yemen’s strategy is its Red Sea naval blockade, now in its fourth phase. The blockade targets all companies trading with Israeli ports, regardless of nationality, and has brought the occupation’s southern port of Eilat to its knees. Eilat has suffered an 80% revenue loss, docking just six ships in the first five months of 2025 compared to 134 in 2023, before completely shutting down in July due to debts and sustained blockade pressure.
Yemen’s combined missile strikes and economic blockade have severely damaged the Israeli economy. Ben Gurion Airport has been repeatedly hit, forcing mass evacuations to shelters, suspending flights, and causing a 13% drop in air traffic in May 2025 following a direct strike.
The occupation has faced $95 billion worth of imports affected, a 3% rise in consumer prices, an extra $3 billion burden on its population, and shipment delays of up to five weeks as vessels are forced to reroute around Africa.
As the YAF maintains pressure on both the military and economic fronts, the message from Sanaa remains clear: Yemen’s resistance will continue until the siege on Gaza is broken and Palestinian victory is secured. (ILKHA)
