Yemeni forces strike Tel Aviv and Eilat in retaliatory operations

The Yemeni armed forces aligned with the Sanaa government announced on Monday that they carried out two military operations against Israeli targets, saying the strikes were in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and in response to Israeli actions.
In an official statement, the Sanaa forces said their missile units fired a “Palestine‑2” hypersonic ballistic missile fitted with multiple warheads at what they described as “sensitive targets” in the occupied Yaffa area (commonly known internationally as Tel Aviv). The statement said the operation “successfully achieved its objectives” and claimed the attack forced large numbers of residents to seek shelter.
The statement added that Yemen’s unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) units also struck two strategic facilities in the Umm al‑Rashrash area (commonly referred to as Eilat) in southern occupied Palestine, again declaring the operation a success.
“In support of the oppressed Palestinian people and their Mujahideen, and in response to the crimes of genocide and the dangerous escalation carried out by the Israeli enemy against our people in the Gaza Strip, and within the framework of responding to the Israeli aggression against our country,” the Yemeni forces said.
The statement framed the operations as part of a broader commitment by the Sanaa authorities to defend Palestinians and to respond to what they described as Israeli aggression, calling on the Arab and Islamic world to “confront, stand firm, and provide all necessary support to the oppressed Palestinian people.”
The Sanaa announcement included religiously framed language and expressions of national resolve, saying the operations were carried out “thanks be to Allah” and pledging to continue action “until the aggression against Gaza stops and the siege is lifted.”
Independent verification of the Yemeni claims was not immediately available. There were no immediate confirmations from Israeli authorities in initial reporting, and no independent sources had verified the reported strikes on Tel Aviv/Yaffa or Umm al‑Rashrash/Eilat at the time of publication. The potential for escalation raises concerns among regional and international observers, given the already heightened tensions across the region.
Analysts caution that claims issued by parties to conflicts require corroboration and that such strikes, if verified, could have significant diplomatic and security repercussions, including responses from targeted states and wider regional ramifications. (ILKHA)
