The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) reported a significant rise in the Producer Price Index of Agricultural Products (Agriculture-PPI) for March 2025, with a year-on-year increase of 31.54% and a month-on-month jump of 6.91%.
According to TurkStat, the Agriculture-PPI (base year 2020=100) rose by 12.81% compared to December 2024 and by 40.17% on a twelve-month moving average basis. Sectoral data showed a 7.36% monthly increase in products of agriculture, hunting, and related services, a 2.36% rise in forestry and logging products, and a 2.27% decline in fish and aquaculture products.
Among main groups, non-perennial crops saw the largest monthly gain at 9.61%, followed by perennial crops at 11.30%, and live animals and animal products at 3.07%. Citrus fruits stood out with a remarkable annual increase of 171.38%, the highest among all subgroups. Other tree and bush fruits and nuts led monthly gains with a 29.64% rise.
The sharp increases reflect ongoing pressures in Turkey’s agricultural sector, with citrus fruits driving the annual surge. (ILKHA)
