Türkiye’s economic confidence index drops to 99.2 in February
Türkiye's economic confidence index declined slightly in February, falling to 99.2, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Thursday.
The index, which stood at 99.7 in January, recorded a 0.5% decrease in February, signaling a slight dip in overall economic sentiment.
Despite the decline in the general economic confidence index, consumer confidence improved, rising by 1.4% to 82.1. Similarly, the real sector confidence index, reflecting sentiment in the manufacturing industry, inched up by 0.2% to 102.8.
However, not all sectors showed positive trends. The services confidence index dropped by 1.9% to 114.2, while the construction sector saw the biggest decline, with its confidence index falling 2.7% to 89.3.
On the other hand, the retail trade confidence index recorded an increase of 1.6%, reaching 116.3.
The economic confidence index is a crucial indicator of market sentiment, reflecting expectations about the general economic situation. A value below 100 suggests a pessimistic outlook, while a figure above 100 indicates optimism among consumers and businesses.
