Türkiye's industrial production fell 1.9 per cent in August from a year earlier, while output declined 1.0 per cent compared with the previous month, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
The figures showed that industrial activity remained under pressure in August 2026, with weaker manufacturing output offsetting gains in the mining and energy sectors.
Manufacturing sector weighs on output
Among the main industrial sectors, the mining and quarrying index increased by 1.7 per cent year-on-year, while the manufacturing index, which accounts for the largest share of industrial production, declined by 2.5 per cent.
The electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index rose 1.3 per cent compared with August last year.
Monthly decline continues
On a monthly basis, industrial production decreased by 1.0 per cent in August.
Mining and quarrying output increased 4.1 per cent from July, while the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector recorded a 3.3 per cent monthly rise.
In contrast, manufacturing production fell 1.6 per cent from the previous month, making it the main factor behind the overall monthly decline in industrial output.
Industrial production is closely watched as one of the leading indicators of economic activity and manufacturing performance in Türkiye, providing an important gauge of the country's broader economic momentum.(ILKHA)
