Afghanistan seeks greater OIC support to strengthen healthcare system

The Acting Minister of Public Health has urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to enhance its support for Afghanistan’s healthcare system, emphasizing the need for strengthened cooperation and increased medical assistance.
During a meeting with OIC representatives, discussions focused on equipping healthcare facilities, improving the skills of Afghan medical professionals, and expanding collaboration in treating drug addiction and cancer patients, according to a statement from the Ministry of Public Health.
The Acting Minister highlighted Afghanistan’s urgent need for sustained international assistance to reinforce its healthcare infrastructure. He called on OIC member states to intensify their support and invest in improving medical services across the country.
In response, OIC representatives reaffirmed their commitment to assisting Afghanistan’s healthcare sector. They assured continued support, particularly in the key areas discussed, as part of broader efforts to strengthen Afghanistan’s medical capabilities.
