Ankara slams Israeli strikes on Damascus as sabotage of Syrian peace

Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrikes on Damascus, describing them as a deliberate act of sabotage targeting Syria’s efforts to restore peace and stability.
In an official press release issued Wednesday, the ministry stated: “Israel's recent strikes on Damascus, following its ongoing military operations in southern Syria, represent a clear act of sabotage aimed at undermining Syria's pursuit of peace, stability, and security.”
The statement emphasized that Syria is at a pivotal moment, with its people facing a historic opportunity to achieve lasting peace and reintegrate into the international community after years of conflict.
“We call upon all relevant parties who are genuinely committed to peace to support the Syrian administration’s efforts to ensure calm and stability in the region,” the ministry added.
The Turkish government has consistently criticized Israel’s cross-border military aggression in neighboring states, particularly when they risk further destabilizing fragile post-conflict environments.
The latest condemnation comes amid heightened tensions across the region, with several countries urging restraint and adherence to international law. (ILKHA)
