Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz to serve as acting president during Erdoğan’s South Africa visit
The Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz will temporarily assume the duties of the presidency while President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is on an official visit to the Republic of South Africa.
The official notification regarding Vice President Yılmaz's temporary assumption of presidential duties was formally published in the Official Gazette today, solidifying the arrangement.
According to the published notice, President Erdoğan's visit to the Republic of South Africa is scheduled to take place between November 21 and November 23.
During this period of the President's absence from the country, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz will assume the duties of the presidency. This transition is in accordance with Article 106 of the Constitution of the Republic of Türkiye, which outlines the constitutional framework for the Vice President to assume the President's powers and duties when the President is temporarily absent or unable to perform their functions.
