Erdoğan, Putin discuss Black Sea security and Russia-Ukraine peace efforts
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss bilateral relations between Türkiye and Russia as well as regional and global developments, Türkiye's Communications Directorate said.
During the call, Erdoğan stressed the importance of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea, according to the statement.
Erdoğan said Türkiye was ready to contribute to efforts aimed at facilitating the start of direct contacts between Russia and Ukraine, reiterating Ankara's willingness to support initiatives seeking to reduce tensions and advance dialogue.
The two leaders also exchanged views on developments affecting their bilateral relationship and broader regional and international issues.
Erdoğan congratulated Putin on his birthday and also extended his congratulations on his party's success in the State Duma elections. (ILKHA)
