Türkiye's Parliament Speaker: Palestinian people will attain freedom
Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Numan Kurtulmuş reaffirmed Türkiye's unwavering support for Palestine, saying the Palestinian people will attain their freedom and their flag will one day fly over a free and sovereign homeland.
In a statement shared on his social media account to mark the third anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation, Kurtulmuş reflected on the developments in Gaza since October 7, 2023, describing them as one of the darkest chapters in human history.
He said tens of thousands of innocent people, including women and children, have been martyred, cities have been devastated and the future of the Palestinian people has been deliberately targeted by the Israel regime.
"Since October 7, 2023, one of the darkest chapters in human history has been written in Gaza. Tens of thousands of innocent people, women and children, have been martyred, cities have been destroyed, and the future of an entire people has been targeted," Kurtulmuş said.
"Türkiye will continue to be the voice of Palestine"
Criticizing the silence of some countries in the face of the Israel regime's attacks on Gaza, Kurtulmuş stressed that Türkiye would continue to stand firmly with the Palestinian people.
"As Türkiye, we will continue, as we did yesterday and as we do today, to stand firmly against the oppressor and remain at the forefront of the Front of Humanity, continuing to be the voice of Palestine," he said.
Kurtulmuş's remarks came as Palestine Solidarity Days are being held across Türkiye from October 7 to 11, featuring marches, exhibitions, panel discussions and public events in all 81 provinces to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and raise awareness of the situation in Gaza and Jerusalem.
"The Palestinian people will attain freedom"
Highlighting the importance of the nationwide solidarity events, Kurtulmuş thanked everyone who continues to support the Palestinian cause.
"Oppression will not last forever. The Palestinian people will attain their freedom, and the Palestinian flag will fly over its free and sovereign homeland," he said.
He concluded his message with the words: "From the river to the sea, Free Palestine."
Kurtulmuş has repeatedly emphasized that the Turkish parliament will continue supporting international initiatives aimed at defending the rights of the Palestinian people, including parliamentary cooperation to strengthen international backing for Palestine.(ILKHA)
