Erdoğan receives family of slain Palestinian child Hind Rajab in Ankara
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received family members of Hind Rajab, the six-year-old Palestinian girl whose death became a symbol of the devastating toll of Israel’s war on civilians in Gaza.
The meeting took place at the Presidential Complex, where Erdoğan received Hind’s relatives and expressed solidarity with the family following the loss of the young girl.
Hind was trapped inside a car in Gaza after it came under Israeli fire while she and members of her family were attempting to flee the violence. Her desperate pleas for help drew global attention and turned her name into a symbol of the suffering endured by Palestinian children amid Israel’s military assault on the besieged territory.
Her killing sparked international outrage and renewed calls for accountability over the deaths of Palestinian civilians, particularly children, during Israel’s operations in Gaza.
Hind’s story has come to represent the vulnerability of Palestinian children facing bombardment, displacement and the destruction of civilian life. Her family’s efforts to seek justice have kept attention focused on the circumstances surrounding her death and the wider civilian toll of the war.
The Turkish government has consistently condemned Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, calling for an immediate end to attacks on civilians and demanding the protection of Palestinians and unrestricted humanitarian access to the territory.
Erdoğan has repeatedly denounced Israel’s actions in Gaza, accusing Israel of committing grave violations against Palestinians and criticizing the international community for failing to halt the bloodshed.
By receiving Hind’s family, Erdoğan reaffirmed Turkey’s solidarity with Palestinians and highlighted the human cost of a conflict that has devastated Gaza and claimed the lives of large numbers of Palestinian civilians.
For many Palestinians and their supporters around the world, Hind Rajab’s name has become a stark reminder of the children who have been killed, injured and traumatized during the war — and of continuing demands for justice and accountability. (ILKHA)
