HÜDA PAR calls for action against social media accounts promoting Israel
HÜDA PAR spokesman and Batman MP Serkan Ramanlı has sharply criticized Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, accusing Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians and calling for stronger international action to protect civilians and uphold international law.
Speaking during an assessment of the agenda at the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Ramanlı also criticized the United Nations for its failure to prevent the continued bloodshed in Gaza.
Ramanlı condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the United Nations, arguing that his appearance at the UN came despite what Ramanlı described as Israel’s violations of international law in Gaza.
He called for comprehensive reform of the United Nations, saying the international system should be based on equal representation and the supremacy of international law rather than the privileges of a small number of powerful states.
Ramanlı’s comments came after Netanyahu addressed the UN General Assembly on Sept. 24. Dozens of delegates walked out of the chamber as Netanyahu began his speech in a protest linked to Israel’s war in Gaza.
Calls for action against pro-Israel social media accounts
Ramanlı also focused on the role of social media in shaping public opinion over the Gaza conflict.
He called on Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications and Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) to take action against pro-Israel propaganda accounts operating in Türkiye.
Ramanlı specifically cited the account @TurkishIDF, describing it as a propaganda platform supporting Israel. He noted that such accounts were being used to spread disinformation and influence Turkish public opinion over the Gaza conflict.
He argued that Türkiye’s authorities should apply the same standards to accounts accused of spreading disinformation regardless of their political position.
Criticism of international response
Ramanlı said the international community should do more to protect Palestinians and ensure that international law is applied consistently.
He argued that the UN’s current structure, particularly the privileges enjoyed by a small number of powerful states, has limited its ability to respond effectively to major international crises.
Other domestic and regional issues
Ramanlı also addressed Türkiye’s planned 13th Judicial Reform Package, saying reforms should be based on justice and equality. He called for faster judicial proceedings without compromising the right to a fair trial and urged changes to the indefinite alimony and sentence-execution systems.
On the economy, he highlighted the difficulties faced by retirees and low-income households, calling for higher pensions and minimum wages in response to the rising cost of living.
Ramanlı also addressed renewed clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan, calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and urging both sides to resolve their disputes through diplomacy.
His remarks placed the Gaza conflict and the failure of international institutions to protect Palestinians at the center of his criticism, alongside calls for action against pro-Israel propaganda activities in Türkiye. (ILKHA)
