HÜDA PAR calls for women-only hospitals on Patient Rights Day
The HÜDA PAR Family Affairs Directorate has called for the establishment of women-only obstetrics and gynaecology hospitals staffed entirely by female healthcare workers, saying that patient privacy and easier access to healthcare services must be protected.
In a written statement marking Patient Rights Day on 26 October, the party highlighted the importance of protecting patients’ rights, improving healthcare access and addressing privacy concerns, particularly among female patients.
The statement said protecting patient rights requires healthcare institutions to provide services that respect human dignity and ensure that medical care is easily accessible.
Patient privacy must be protected
HÜDA PAR said barriers to accessing healthcare should not only be considered financial, but also include psychological, cultural and personal factors.
The party stated that no patient should have to choose between receiving treatment and protecting their privacy.
“Patients’ right to privacy must be respected and necessary arrangements should be made in line with their needs,” the statement said.
It added that all areas of healthcare, including operating rooms, intensive care units, outpatient services and inpatient treatment facilities, should be designed to fully protect patients’ privacy rights.
Call for women-only maternity hospitals
HÜDA PAR said privacy concerns in obstetrics and gynaecology services prevent some women from seeking healthcare, stressing that female patients should feel psychologically comfortable and secure throughout the treatment process.
The party said:
“Many women receiving services in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology refrain from accessing healthcare due to privacy concerns. In this field, which includes some of the most sensitive stages of medical care, it is essential for female patients to feel comfortable and safe throughout every stage of treatment.”
“Hospitals staffed entirely by women should be established”
HÜDA PAR called for the establishment of obstetrics and gynaecology hospitals where all healthcare personnel are women, saying such facilities would help women access healthcare services without concerns over privacy.
“We call for the establishment of obstetrics and gynaecology hospitals where all healthcare personnel are women. We believe that such arrangements will contribute to enabling women to benefit from healthcare services without experiencing privacy concerns,” the statement said.
The party concluded its statement by expressing hope for a healthcare system where patient rights are strengthened, privacy is carefully protected and everyone can access medical services while feeling safe.(ILKHA)
