HÜDA PAR urges Türkiye, Qatar and Egypt to take stronger role in Gaza
Hüseyin İmir, Foreign Relations President of Türkiye’s HÜDA PAR, has urged guarantor countries Türkiye, Qatar, and Egypt to immediately abandon their passive approach to the situation in Gaza, voicing strong support for a recent call by Hamas military spokesman Abu Obeida.
During a press conference, İmir outlined his party’s positions on several regional issues, including the ongoing conflict in Gaza, the detention of humanitarian activists from the Global Sumud Convoy in Libya, and the recent life imprisonment sentence handed to Tunisian opposition leader Rashid al-Ghannushi.
İmir described Abu Obeida’s appeal to guarantor countries (excluding the United States) as a “historic warning that will shake the dust off the Islamic world.” He criticized the current mediation mechanisms, arguing they protect the “Israeli occupation regime” rather than halting its actions.
“The Zionist terrorist regime’s massacre of nearly a thousand civilians since the so-called ceasefire came into effect and its vile instructions to occupy 70% of Gaza have once again confirmed Zionism’s inhuman savagery,” İmir said. He added that for what he termed the “evil alliance,” a ceasefire simply means “firing in a more moderate manner and deepening the occupation.”
He called on Türkiye, Qatar, and Egypt to reverse their positions, stating: “The silence and inaction of the guarantor countries are opening space for Zionist expansionism and genocide. This mentality, which acts as a protective shield for the occupation regime under the name of mediation, must immediately be reversed.”
İmir also addressed the detention of activists from the Global Sumud Convoy in Libya. The activists were detained in late May 2026 while attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.
He described their detention as “a historic shame for the Islamic Ummah” and “completely unacceptable,” noting that many are currently on hunger strike in difficult prison conditions. İmir held Libyan authorities directly responsible for the activists’ safety and urged countries whose citizens are detained to use all diplomatic and sanctions tools to secure their immediate release.
Turning to Tunisia, İmir strongly condemned the life imprisonment sentence given to Rashid al-Ghannushi, leader of the Ennahda Movement, describing it as part of a broader pattern of political repression under President Kais Saied.
He accused Saied of turning his back on promises of justice and freedom, saying the president has “recklessly taken steps to return the country to dictatorship” by dissolving institutions and using the judiciary against opponents.İmir called for the immediate release of Ghannushi and all other imprisoned politicians and activists, expressing confidence that the Tunisian people would resist any new authoritarian turn, just as they did during the 2011 Jasmine Revolution.
HÜDA PAR is a conservative Islamic party in Türkiye known for its strong pro-Palestinian positions and advocacy on Muslim world issues. No immediate response from Turkish, Qatari, or Egyptian officials to İmir’s remarks was reported. (ILKHA)
