ITTIHADUL ULEMA highlights Gaza crisis in Eid al-Fitr message

The Union of Scholars and Madrasas (ITTIHADUL ULEMA) has issued its Eid al-Fitr message, balancing the joy of the holiday with a stark reminder of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and other Islamic nations.
The organization's statement, released to mark the end of Ramadan, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to have observed the holy month while acknowledging the simultaneous "joy and sadness" felt by the Muslim Ummah.
"Praise be to our Lord who gave us the opportunity to purify ourselves from our sins by spending the month of Ramadan with fasting and worship and brought us to Eid, which is a day of happiness," the statement began.
ITTIHADUL ULEMA emphasized the spiritual significance of Eid, viewing it as a divine blessing and a continuation of Ramadan's spiritual journey. They prayed for the acceptance of their worship and that Eid would serve as a means of forgiveness.
However, the message quickly turned to address the suffering within the Muslim world, particularly focusing on the situation in Gaza. "As the Ummah, we are in a state of both joy and sadness at these times. On the one hand, we are suffering from the situation in Gaza and other Islamic countries. On the other hand, we are joyful because of the Eid that Allah has gifted to us," the statement read, referencing a verse from the Quran encouraging believers to rejoice in God's grace and mercy.
The Union of Scholars and Madrasas used the Eid message to call attention to the ongoing conflicts and humanitarian crises affecting Muslims globally, using the festive occasion to urge solidarity and awareness.
"As ITTIHADUL ULEMA, we congratulate you on your blessed Eid al-Fitr, and we ask our Lord to bring peace, happiness and victory to the entire Islamic world and our people. May your Eid be blessed," the message concluded. (ILKHA)
