Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) convened in Ankara on Türkiye's Republic Day, reaffirming the commitment of member states to deepen cooperation and strengthen solidarity across the Turkic world.

Fidan expressed hope that the consultations held during the meeting would further reinforce unity among the member states and contribute to achieving their shared goals.

The meeting was held ahead of the OTS Summit, which will be hosted by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara on Thursday.

Commitment to stronger cooperation

Highlighting the importance of the consultations, Fidan said the meeting reflected the long-standing tradition of Turkic councils inherited from their ancestors and thanked his counterparts as well as everyone who contributed to the organisation of the gathering.

He also underscored the deep-rooted bonds of brotherhood between Türkiye and the Turkic states, stressing that efforts to expand cooperation in political, economic, cultural and other fields would continue with determination.

The foreign ministers also reviewed preparations for the upcoming leaders' summit and exchanged views on regional and international developments, as well as cooperation projects carried out under the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.

Fidan expressed his hope that the summit, to be hosted by President Erdoğan, would bring positive outcomes for the Turkic world and further strengthen cooperation among member states. (ILKHA)
