Prophet’s Lovers issues call for spiritual awakening and solidarity on Laylat al-Raghaib
The Prophet’s Lovers Foundation (Peygamber Sevdalıları Vakfı) has issued a message on the occasion of Laylat al-Raghaib (Regaip Kandili), highlighting the spiritual significance of the blessed three months.
Laylat al-Raghaib, observed on the first Friday night of the Islamic month of Rajab, marks the beginning of the three sacred months, widely regarded in Islamic tradition as a season of mercy, repentance, and spiritual renewal. In its message, the Foundation emphasized that prayers during this period should not overlook the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.
The statement was read by Yakup Kaya, a member of the Executive Board of the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation, who underscored the deep religious meaning of the night and its place within the broader spiritual calendar of Islam.
Kaya explained that the term “Raghaib” originates from the Arabic root ragh-ba, meaning to desire, aspire, and strive toward what is good. He noted that Laylat al-Raghaib is traditionally seen as the first glad tiding of the coming of Ramadan and the gateway to the three blessed months. Quoting a well-known supplication of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Kaya recalled: “O Allah, bless for us Rajab and Sha‘ban, and allow us to reach Ramadan.”
Describing the three months as a unique opportunity for moral and spiritual renewal, Kaya said they offer believers a chance to cleanse themselves of sins, engage in repentance and seeking forgiveness, reassess their lives, and make a fresh start. He added that certain nights within this period, including Laylat al-Raghaib, have been granted special virtue and serve as gateways of goodness for the Islamic Ummah.
Drawing attention to the hardships facing Muslims around the world, Kaya stated that the Ummah is enduring extremely difficult times, with millions living under oppression or severe deprivation. In such circumstances, he said, blessed nights like Laylat al-Raghaib provide consolation, strengthen reliance on Allah, and offer an opportunity to seek divine relief and mercy.
Kaya concluded by stressing that reviving the three months through worship is essential in an era marked by excessive attachment to worldly concerns. He emphasized that praying for the victory and relief of Muslims—especially in Gaza—along with providing both material and moral support, are among the most important deeds to be performed on these sacred nights.
On behalf of the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation, Kaya extended congratulations to the entire Islamic Ummah on Laylat al-Raghaib and expressed hope that the night would become a means for the liberation and relief of all oppressed people. (ILKHA)
