Turkish FM hosts Hamas delegation to address Gaza crisis

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a high-level meeting on Saturday with Muhammad Darwish, head of Hamas’ Shura Council, and his delegation to discuss the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the urgent need for a ceasefire.
Diplomatic sources revealed that the talks centered on Israel’s ongoing blockade of humanitarian aid to Gaza, condemned as a deliberate effort to starve Palestinians. Both sides called for intensified international action to ensure the delivery of critical aid to the besieged enclave.
The meeting also addressed Israel’s attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians, which were denounced as a violation of international norms. Discussions further highlighted the escalating tensions in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli actions to entrench occupation were identified as a growing threat to regional stability.
Efforts to promote reconciliation among Palestinian factions were another key focus. Fidan underscored the importance of Palestinian unity and reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to supporting initiatives that bolster internal cohesion and resistance against occupation.
The talks come amid mounting global demands for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and increased regional efforts to address the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the region. (ILKHA)
