The Turkish Presidency’s Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran, has issued a sharp condemnation of the provocative incursion into the Al-Aqsa Mosque by an Israeli minister and a group of extremists.

Duran declared that no action targeting the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque is acceptable. He criticized the move as a unilateral attempt by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to undermine the historical and legal status of Al-Quds (Jerusalem).

“Such unilateral actions by Netanyahu’s genocidal government, aimed at eroding the historical and legal status of Al-Quds, further escalate tensions in the region and undermine the prospects for lasting peace,” Duran said.

Duran emphasized that preserving the historical status of Al-Quds and the Al-Aqsa Mosque is a shared responsibility of the international community, not just a regional issue. He referenced President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s consistent position on the matter.

“Under the leadership of our President, Türkiye will continue to resolutely defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and safeguard the rights of Al-Quds under international law,” Duran stated.

The statement reflects Türkiye’s longstanding stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly regarding the protection of Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem and opposition to actions perceived as altering the city’s delicate status quo. (ILKHA)
