The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a strong condemnation following the deaths of three Turkish citizens who were killed in an Israeli airstrike while attempting to illegally cross from Lebanon into Israel.
According to the ministry’s official statement, contact had been lost with the three individuals before it was later confirmed that they had died as a result of an Israeli attack in the region.
“We wish Allah’s mercy upon our citizens and extend our condolences to their families,” the ministry said, expressing deep sorrow over the incident.
The necessary procedures are currently being carried out to ensure the swift repatriation of their bodies to Turkey, the ministry confirmed.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry harshly criticized Israel, calling the strike an “unlawful attack” that resulted in the loss of innocent lives.
“We condemn in the strongest terms this unlawful attack that resulted in the death of our citizens. As we have emphasized on every occasion, Israel must immediately end its aggressive policies that disregard human life and escalate tensions in our region,” the statement read.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and regional actors, with Lebanon's southern border witnessing frequent clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants. Turkey has repeatedly condemned Israel’s military operations in the region, calling for de-escalation and an end to hostilities.
Ankara has also urged the international community to hold Israel accountable for its military actions, particularly those resulting in civilian casualties.
Further diplomatic responses from Tütrkiye are expected as the government continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the airstrike. (ILKHA)
