Türkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday expressed deep sorrow over a fatal traffic accident on the Deir ez-Zor–Damascus highway that claimed multiple lives in Syria.

In a statement, the ministry conveyed its condolences to the victims' families and the Syrian people following the incident, which occurred on July 25.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives in a traffic accident that occurred today on the Deir ez-Zor–Damascus highway," the ministry said.

The ministry prayed for mercy upon those who lost their lives and extended its sympathies to their relatives and to the people of Syria.

"We wish Allah's mercy upon those who lost their lives in the accident, and extend our condolences to their families and to the people of Syria," the statement added.

The message reflects Türkiye's continued expression of solidarity with Syria in the wake of tragic incidents affecting civilians. (ILKHA)
