Türkiye's Foreign Ministry has welcomed the first session of Syria's People's Assembly, describing it as an important step toward advancing the country's political process and strengthening popular sovereignty.

Türkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the convening of the inaugural session of Syria's People's Assembly, calling it a significant milestone in advancing the political process in line with the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people.

In a written statement, the ministry said it viewed the first session of the assembly as "an important step" toward promoting the political process and establishing popular sovereignty in Syria.

The ministry expressed confidence that the People's Assembly, which brings together representatives from different segments of Syrian society, would make a meaningful contribution to efforts to establish stability, security, and prosperity through an inclusive system of governance.

It also voiced hope that the assembly would effectively carry out its legislative responsibilities and help shape Syria's future.

Reaffirming Türkiye's support for the Syrian people, the ministry said Ankara would continue to stand by Syria's efforts to build a prosperous future based on the country's unity and territorial integrity. (ILKHA)
