Unexploded shells found during construction in Gelibolu
A significant discovery was made during sewerage renewal works in the Gelibolu district of Çanakkale.
Municipal teams unearthed approximately 50 unexploded artillery shells, believed to be remnants from the Çanakkale Wars.
Upon the discovery, local authorities promptly notified the gendarmerie, who immediately secured the area. The shells were carefully removed and transported to a safe location, where they will be handed over to the Çanakkale Wars Gelibolu Historical Site Presidency for further examination.
