Young girls in Diyarbakır describe hijab as an expression of faith and obedience to Allah
Young girls who took part in the "I Intend to Wear the Hijab – Your Command Is Above All" programme organised by the Prophet Lovers Foundation(Peygamber Sevdalıları Platformu) in Diyarbakır shared their thoughts, saying they were happy to observe hijab as an act of obedience to Allah's command.
Young girls who participated in a hijab awareness programme organized by the Prophet Lovers Foundation (Peygamber Sevdalıları Vakfı) in Diyarbakır expressed their happiness at wearing the hijab, describing it as an act of obedience to Allah, a source of spiritual peace and a reflection of their Islamic identity.
The programme, titled “I Intend to Wear the Hijab – Your Command Is Above All,” was held at the Hazreti Süleyman Complex in the Sur district as part of the foundation’s educational and awareness activities for girls and young women who have recently begun wearing the hijab.
Participants shared their personal experiences, emphasizing the spiritual fulfilment, dignity and sense of security they associate with observing the Islamic dress code.
‘Hijab Brings Me Closer to Allah’
Amine Narçiçek said wearing the hijab had strengthened her sense of closeness to Allah and made her feel more secure.
“Wearing the hijab is something beautiful. It makes a person feel safe and closer to Allah. I chose to start wearing it of my own free will last year,” she said.
Esra Güneş encouraged other girls to embrace the hijab, saying that remembering its religious significance could help them remain steadfast in their decision.
“The hijab is beautiful because it is Allah’s command. I think everyone should wear it. Even if they sometimes feel discouraged, remembering that it is Allah’s command will make them happy,” she said.
Her remarks reflected the participants’ shared emphasis on faith, personal conviction and commitment to Islamic teachings.
‘The Hijab Is Also a Shield’
Meryem İlya described the hijab as more than a form of clothing, saying it represented dignity and a commitment to protecting both outward modesty and inner character.
“After wearing the hijab, many things changed. People show more respect, and I feel more honoured. The hijab is also a shield. We should not only cover ourselves outwardly but also protect our hearts,” she said.
Her comments highlighted the participants’ view that modesty extends beyond appearance to include personal conduct, moral values and spiritual awareness.
Şehadet and İsra Yıldız said they had chosen to wear the hijab in response to Allah’s command and that the decision brought them a sense of security and peace.
Sara Demirok also expressed her happiness at taking part in the programme, while Bukre Çelik said wearing the hijab made her feel special and encouraged other girls to embrace it.
Firdevs Sürekli described the hijab as one of Allah’s commands, saying it brought peace and helped believers remain mindful of their religious responsibilities.
Ahsen Uçar concluded by expressing her hope that Allah would grant everyone the opportunity to observe the hijab.
Promoting Islamic Values Among Young People
The programme formed part of the Prophet Lovers Foundation’s wider efforts to strengthen Islamic awareness and encourage religious values among children and young people through educational and social activities.
By providing a platform for young participants to share their experiences, the event highlighted the importance they attach to faith, modesty and religious commitment.
The girls’ testimonies presented the hijab not merely as a dress code, but as a meaningful expression of their relationship with Allah and their desire to live in accordance with Islamic teachings. (ILKHA)
