Iran parliament speaker says military option on table if commitments are not met
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said military options remain on the table if the opposing side fails to fulfil its commitments, according to remarks made during a televised interview.
Ghalibaf said what he described as the “axis of resistance” continues its activities across a wide geographical area and stressed that it remains prepared for confrontation if necessary.
Speaking about regional developments, Ghalibaf said ongoing negotiations require strict adherence from all parties.
He also referred to his recent visit to Switzerland and details of the so-called Islamabad Memorandum, saying that commitments must be respected by all sides. Ghalibaf claimed that actions targeting US bases demonstrate adherence to the agreement framework, while accusing Israel and certain US officials of attempting to sabotage the process. He said Iran remains on alert both diplomatically and militarily against such attempts.
“We are currently continuing negotiations, but if the other side does not fulfil its obligations, we are also ready for war,” Ghalibaf said.
He also referred to developments related to the Strait of Hormuz and regional energy routes, saying conditions had allowed oil exports to continue.
Ghalibaf further commented on Israeli attacks in Lebanon and what he described as ongoing aggression by the Israeli regime, saying both diplomatic and field-level developments are being closely monitored to ensure full implementation of agreements.(ILKHA)
