European Commission launches formal investigation into X (Twitter) over DSA compliance

The European Commission has initiated formal proceedings to assess whether X (formerly known as Twitter) may have breached the Digital Services Act (DSA) in several key areas.
These include risk management, content moderation, dark patterns, advertising transparency, and data access for researchers.
The investigation, sparked by concerns over X's compliance with the DSA, particularly in countering the dissemination of illegal content in the EU, focuses on multiple facets.
These include the effectiveness of measures to combat information manipulation, transparency of the platform, and potential deceptive design elements in the user interface.
The alleged violations, if proven, would constitute infringements of several articles of the DSA, marking the first formal proceedings launched by the Commission to enforce the EU-wide framework for online platforms' responsibility. (ILKHA)
