77 Palestinian prisoners killed in Israeli jails since October 7

The Prisoners’ Information Office has confirmed that 77 Palestinian prisoners have been killed in Israeli prisons since the beginning of the Zionist regime’s aggression on Gaza on October 7, 2023.
The office accused the occupation of committing “systematic crimes” inside its jails, pointing to torture, medical neglect, starvation, and inhumane conditions as deliberate methods of execution.
In a statement released Tuesday, the office detailed a pattern of systematic abuses, including brutal torture, deliberate medical neglect, starvation, and inhumane detention conditions, describing these acts as "clear war crimes" that demand international accountability.
The office reported that the total number of Palestinian prisoners killed since 1967 has now reached 314, with 77 deaths occurring in the past 22 months alone. The statement outlined the horrific methods allegedly used by Israeli forces, including electric shocks, severe beatings, rape, and denying prisoners food, sleep, and medical care. Detainees have also been subjected to harsh conditions, such as being forced to strip naked in freezing temperatures, exacerbating their suffering.
The Israeli authorities are further accused of withholding the bodies of 74 martyrs, refusing to release them to their families for burial. Of the 77 prisoners killed since October 2023, 46 were from the Gaza Strip, and the identities of dozens remain undisclosed, with the occupation authorities allegedly concealing their names and places of detention.
The Prisoners’ Information Office condemned the Israeli Prison Service for imposing draconian measures under an "emergency law" following October 7, 2023. These measures include severe restrictions on prisoners’ rights, detaining large numbers in overcrowded cells without beds, and banning visits from lawyers and the International Committee of the Red Cross. Testimonies from recently released prisoners paint a grim picture, describing "horrific and shocking" torture endured after being arrested from shelters, hospitals, and checkpoints.
The office called for urgent international action, urging the prosecution of Israeli leaders for what it described as a deliberate campaign of systematic killings. “The occupation’s ongoing crimes against Palestinian prisoners cannot be ignored,” the statement declared, emphasizing the need for justice and accountability for the victims and their families.
