Afghan leader: Islamic governance must be free of Western influence

Sheikh Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, delivered a powerful address during the Eid al-Fitr prayer in Kandahar, attended by thousands of worshippers.
In his speech, he emphasized that the success of the Islamic system hinges on unity between the Afghan people and the Emirate, while issuing a stern warning against divisive propaganda from external forces.
Highlighting the importance of national cohesion, Sheikh Hibatullah urged citizens to overcome internal differences and rally behind the Islamic system. He accused Western-backed entities and “infidels” of attempting to destabilize the Emirate through what he described as “poisonous propaganda.”
“The Islamic system will succeed when there is unity between us and you,” he declared. “Today, these devilish individuals are trying to separate the people from the Emirate. The infidels and supporters of democracy spread poisonous propaganda, even accusing the high-ranking officials of incompetence.”
The leader reaffirmed the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to establishing a legal framework rooted in Sharia law, rejecting foreign-imposed legislation. “A law should not be one that comes from the West or has Western origins,” he said. “It must be formulated here, by experts within the country—not a copy-pasted version from the West.” He added that efforts are already underway to draft new laws aligned with Islamic principles.
Sheikh Hibatullah also used the occasion to denounce Israeli attacks on Palestine, expressing solidarity with the Muslim community in Gaza and calling on the global Islamic Ummah to resist oppression.
The Eid al-Fitr prayer in Kandahar served as a moment of reflection for attendees, with the Islamic Emirate Leader reinforcing his government’s resolve to uphold Sharia law and resist external interference. The address underscored the ongoing tensions between the Taliban-led government and Western influences, as Afghanistan continues to navigate its path under Islamic governance. (ILKHA)
