Afghanistan set to reopen embassy in Norway

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan has officially announced the reopening of the country’s embassy in Oslo, marking a significant step in restoring diplomatic relations with Norway and the broader international community.
The embassy, set to resume operations on March 24, 2025—or the 4th of Hamal, 1404, according to the Afghan calendar—will once again provide consular services to Afghan citizens and facilitate diplomatic engagement.
In a statement released by the ministry, the reopening was hailed as a key milestone in Afghanistan’s efforts to strengthen its global ties. The move comes as part of a broader push by the Islamic Emirate to normalize and expand the country’s diplomatic footprint following years of political upheaval.
Officials from the Islamic Emirate expressed optimism about the development, emphasizing the steady improvement in Afghanistan’s political relationships worldwide. “This is a promising step forward,” a ministry spokesperson said. “We are committed to reestablishing Afghanistan’s presence on the world stage, and our citizens can expect further progress in our diplomatic endeavors in the near future.”
The reopening of the Oslo embassy is seen as a pivotal moment, reflecting Afghanistan’s ongoing efforts to rebuild connections with nations across the globe. Analysts suggest this could pave the way for enhanced cooperation and dialogue between Afghanistan and Norway, as well as other international partners, in the months ahead. (ILKHA)
