A Palestinian civil defense official was martyred on Saturday after succumbing to severe injuries sustained in an Israeli airstrike the previous day in northern Gaza, according to local sources.

The victim, identified as civil defense officer Suhail Dahman, was critically wounded when Israeli occupation forces targeted the vicinity of al-Ribat Mosque in Beit Lahia. The strike took place as Dahman and his son were traveling through the area to check on their home in the Beit Lahia project neighborhood.

Local reports confirmed that Dahman’s son also sustained serious injuries in the attack and remains in critical condition.

Dahman’s death raises the number of civil defense personnel killed by Israeli bombardment in Gaza to 142 martyrs, highlighting the devastating toll on the first responders who continue to operate under relentless airstrikes, destroyed infrastructure, and extreme shortages of rescue equipment.

Gaza’s civil defense teams have repeatedly warned that their ability to conduct rescue operations has been severely compromised by the ongoing Israeli offensive, which has targeted residential zones, shelters, and critical civil emergency facilities across the enclave. (ILKHA)
