Death Toll in Gaza Surges to 48,329, thousands still trapped

The death toll in the Gaza Strip has surged to 48,329, the majority of whom are women and children, since the start of the Israeli military campaign in October 2023, according to medical sources.
The number of injured has also climbed to 111,753, while thousands remain trapped under rubble, with rescue efforts facing severe obstacles, the sources added.
In the past 24 hours, ten additional casualties were brought to hospitals across Gaza. Among them, one individual succumbed to injuries, while seven bodies were recovered from beneath the debris. Another four injured individuals were rushed to medical facilities following the latest Israeli attacks.
Medical teams have raised urgent alarms over the worsening situation, warning that many victims remain under collapsed buildings and on the streets, with rescue operations hindered by severe shortages of equipment and resources necessary for debris removal and victim retrieval.
Emergency responders continue to struggle against overwhelming odds, with critical shortages of medical supplies, fuel, and heavy machinery impeding their ability to save lives. Aid organizations have repeatedly called for immediate international intervention to provide Gaza’s besieged health sector with essential resources.
As bombardments persist, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza remains catastrophic, with relief agencies warning that without urgent action, the number of casualties will continue to rise. (ILKHA)
