Gaza’s Health Ministry: Over 1,400 medical workers martyred in ongoing Israeli genocide

The Ministry of Health in Gaza has confirmed that more than 1,400 Palestinian medical professionals have been martyred since the beginning of the U.S.-backed Israeli aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip.
In a statement released Tuesday on Telegram, the ministry stated: “More than 1,400 members of the healthcare workforce have been martyred, while around 360 others are still imprisoned by the Zionist occupation.”
Since the launch of the brutal Israeli assault on October 7, 2023, Gaza’s hospitals and medical facilities have been mercilessly and repeatedly bombed, turning once-functioning health centers into rubble and leaving the wounded, sick, and dying without care. The deliberate targeting of healthcare workers, ambulances, and clinics has decimated the strip’s already strained health system, amounting to clear and repeated war crimes.
Healthcare System Targeted Amid Indiscriminate Bombardment
The Gaza Strip, already suffering under 18 years of suffocating blockade, is now enduring total collapse under Israel’s indiscriminate and genocidal campaign. With the full military, financial, and diplomatic support of the United States, the occupation forces have pressed forward with a scorched-earth policy that spares neither children nor the elderly, nor even doctors and nurses struggling to save lives under fire.
The latest figures are staggering: nearly 167,000 Palestinians have been killed or injured since the beginning of the onslaught — the overwhelming majority of them women and children. More than 11,000 people remain missing, many feared buried under the rubble of homes, hospitals, and schools flattened by Israeli airstrikes.
A People Starved and Displaced
As part of its genocidal campaign, the occupation regime has intensified its siege on Gaza, sealing border crossings and cutting off vital humanitarian aid. Aid convoys have been blocked or attacked, and Gaza’s population — now over 1.5 million displaced out of 2.4 million residents — faces a man-made famine, deliberately inflicted as a weapon of war.
The entire Gaza Strip, from the north to Rafah in the south, has become an open-air graveyard. Families sleep in the streets, shelter in the ruins of bombed buildings, and endure thirst, hunger, and disease — all while the so-called international community continues to issue statements but takes no meaningful action to stop the bloodshed.
Global Solidarity Grows Despite Complicity of the Powerful
Despite the complicity of Western powers, particularly the United States, the Palestinian people continue to stand firm with unshakable resolve. Around the world, the voices of conscience are rising — from massive protests to boycott campaigns — demanding an end to the occupation, an end to the genocide, and justice for the people of Gaza.
The Zionist regime's attempt to erase a people through starvation, bombardment, and siege has not broken the Palestinian spirit. On the contrary, Gaza has become a symbol of steadfastness (sumud) in the face of tyranny, and its martyrs — including doctors, nurses, and first responders — are honored as heroes in the ongoing struggle for liberation.
