Global death toll from coronavirus pandemic rises to 961,612
At least 31,002,576 people have so far tested positive for coronavirus around the world.
The coronavirus outbreak, which was first identified in Wuhan, China and declared a pandemic by World Health Organization on March 11, is continuing to claim the lives of thousands of people across the world.
However, the countries began to ease measures against the coronavirus pandemic, which has been severely affecting the world economy.
The United States, the current epicenter of the pandemic, has the highest number of coronavirus related fatalities with 203,828 deaths, followed by Brazil with 136,565 deaths, India with 86,774 deaths and Mexico with 73,258 deaths.
On the other hand, scientists are moving at record speed to create a vaccine against the virus, with some 39 vaccine candidates in clinical research, 33 in Phase I–II trials, and 6 in Phase II–III trials.
At least 22,610,880 patients suffering from the disease have so far recovered and been discharged from hospital worldwide. (ILKHA)
