Hamas condemns Israeli airstrike near Gaza hospital as blatant ceasefire violation
Hamas has strongly condemned an Israeli airstrike that targeted civilians near Yemen Al-Saeed Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, describing the attack as part of Israel's "ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people" and a flagrant breach of the ceasefire agreement.
In a statement issued late Sunday, Hamas said the Israeli occupation forces carried out the strike on a gathering of civilians near the hospital, killing four Palestinians and wounding several others. The movement denounced the attack as another episode in what it described as Israel's systematic targeting of civilians despite existing truce arrangements.
"Hamas considers this attack part of the occupation's daily crimes against innocent civilians and another clear violation of the ceasefire agreement," the statement said.
The movement accused the Israeli government of continuing to bomb homes and residential neighborhoods across the Gaza Strip while disregarding commitments made under the ceasefire deal. According to Hamas, these repeated attacks undermine the efforts of regional mediators working to implement the agreement and advance its subsequent phases.
Hamas further charged that Israel was deliberately obstructing progress toward a lasting cessation of hostilities by failing to uphold its obligations under the negotiated framework.
The movement called on the countries that sponsored and mediated the ceasefire agreement to take immediate action and exert pressure on the Israeli government to halt its violations, respect the terms of the deal, and ensure protection for Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
The strike near Yemen Al-Saeed Hospital came amid continued bloodshed across the besieged enclave. Earlier on Sunday, five more Palestinians, including a child, were reported killed in separate Israeli shooting attacks in different areas of Gaza.
Palestinian officials and rights advocates have repeatedly warned that continued attacks on civilian areas, medical facilities, and displaced families risk further deepening Gaza's humanitarian catastrophe. With hospitals operating under immense strain and large segments of the population facing displacement and severe shortages of basic necessities, calls have intensified for the international community to intervene and hold Israel accountable for actions that Palestinians say violate both the ceasefire agreement and international humanitarian law.
As mediators seek to salvage the fragile truce and prevent a renewed escalation, Palestinian factions insist that any meaningful path toward stability must begin with an end to attacks on civilians and full adherence to the commitments agreed upon in the ceasefire framework. (ILKHA)
