Hamas delegation meets Turkish officials in Ankara

A senior delegation from the Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas, led by Muhammad Darwish—head of the Shura and Leadership Councils—held high-level talks with Turkish officials in Ankara this week, focusing on the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza and efforts to end the Israeli aggression.
According to a statement issued by Hamas on Thursday, the delegation held separate meetings with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Director of National Intelligence İbrahim Kalın over the past two days.
Discussions centered on the ongoing Israeli military campaign in Gaza, international attempts to halt what Hamas describes as a genocide, and the urgent need to lift the longstanding siege on the territory. Both sides emphasized the importance of intensifying regional and global initiatives to stop the war and ensure the delivery of life-saving humanitarian aid to Palestinians.
Hamas expressed deep appreciation for Türkiye’s continued political and humanitarian backing of the Palestinian cause, commending Ankara’s role in calling for an end to the aggression and in supporting efforts to alleviate the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Turkish officials reiterated their firm support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and stressed that Gaza remains a top diplomatic priority for Türkiye, even amid shifting regional dynamics.
In a related development, Hamas announced on Wednesday that it is holding internal consultations to assess recent proposals submitted by international mediators. The group said these efforts aim to achieve an agreement that would end Israeli hostilities and secure the withdrawal of occupation forces from Gaza.
Hamas noted that mediators are working diligently to resolve key points of contention and lay the groundwork for a broader framework agreement. If successful, these talks could lead to a credible negotiation process aimed at ending the war and securing a just and lasting peace for the Palestinian people. (ILKHA)
