Hamas Leader condemns Israel’s sabotage of ceasefire talks, calls for urgent aid to Gaza

Khalil al-Hayya, Deputy Head of Hamas in Gaza and a senior member of its political bureau, fiercely denounced Israel’s sudden withdrawal from ceasefire negotiations on Sunday, accusing the occupation of undermining significant progress toward peace.
Al-Hayya emphasized Hamas’ sincere efforts over the past 22 months, engaging constructively and accepting mediators’ proposals to end Israel’s relentless aggression on Gaza.
Al-Hayya condemned Israel’s ongoing “genocide, starvation, and siege” against Gaza’s defenseless civilians, declaring that negotiations are futile while such atrocities persist. He demanded the immediate opening of secure land routes for food and humanitarian aid, rejecting Israel’s airdrop operations as cynical ploys to obscure its suffocating blockade. Al-Hayya accused Israel of deliberately crippling UN and local aid efforts, using Palestinian suffering as a political tool.
Highlighting the catastrophic famine gripping Gaza, al-Hayya decried the international community’s complicity through silence, questioning why Israel receives unwavering support while Palestinians starve. Speaking directly to Gaza’s resilient people, he vowed Hamas’ unwavering loyalty, praising their endurance in the face of unimaginable horrors.
Al-Hayya hailed the heroism of Palestinian resistance groups, including al-Qassam Brigades and Saraya al-Quds, for derailing Israel’s military operation, codenamed “Gideon’s Chariots.” He accused Israel of masking its battlefield failures with brutal attacks on civilians and warned of a sinister Israeli plot to forcibly displace Palestinians through Egypt or by sea.
Calling on Arab and Muslim nations to sever all ties with Israel, al-Hayya urged mass mobilization, including marches to Palestine and protests at Israeli embassies, as well as legal action in international courts to hold Israeli officials accountable. He appealed to Jordan to lead efforts to stop the “genocidal onslaught” and block schemes to divide al-Aqsa Mosque or impose an “alternative homeland.”
In a heartfelt plea to Egyptians, he called for urgent action to reopen the Rafah crossing, asking, “Will Gaza’s children die of hunger at your borders?” To the broader Arab and Islamic world, al-Hayya invoked a call to honor and conscience, urging concrete action to deliver food and medicine to Gaza’s women and children.
He also praised global solidarity movements, including the “Global March to Gaza,” the Madelene and Handala sea convoys, and the “First Convoy of Steadfastness” from Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya, which have galvanized international support. “These actions prove the world stands with Gaza, rejecting Israel’s crimes,” he declared, affirming that with collective will, justice for Palestine is within reach.
