Hamas official Says “Al-Aqsa Flood” marked a turning point in Palestinian struggle
Senior Hamas official Ezzat al-Resheq has stated that the second narrative released by the movement on Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” reflects the Palestinian people’s deep-rooted attachment to their land, their partnership with the resistance, and their enduring aspiration to liberate their homeland and holy sites.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Resheq said the eight chapters of the newly released narrative shed light on “the true reality the Palestinian people have endured for more than seven decades under fascist occupation and settler colonialism.” He emphasized that the operation should not be viewed as a temporary or isolated incident, but rather as a defining moment in the long history of the Palestinian struggle.
“Al-Aqsa Flood was not a passing event or a sudden raid,” Resheq said, describing it as “a pivotal milestone” that has reshaped the course of resistance against occupation. According to him, the operation triggered what he termed a “moral shockwave”, awakening global conscience and forcing many around the world to confront what he described as one of the longest and most brutal colonial occupation systems in modern history.
Resheq stressed that the narrative clearly frames the Palestinian cause as one of national liberation, justice, freedom, and human dignity, rooted in a people’s unwavering commitment to their rights, national principles, and sacred sites. He added that the willingness of Palestinians to make sacrifices in pursuit of self-determination is a central theme throughout the narrative.
Highlighting the role of Gaza, Resheq said the besieged enclave emerged in the narrative as “a glorious crossing ground and a unique symbol of heroism and endurance,” reflecting the resilience of its population despite relentless aggression and destruction.
The Hamas official further asserted that the second “Al-Aqsa Flood” narrative effectively dismantles what he described as the Zionist storyline, long supported by the United States administration and several Western governments. According to Resheq, the narrative challenges dominant international discourse by presenting the Palestinian perspective and exposing the realities of occupation, resistance, and decades of dispossession.
Hamas has said the release of the narrative aims to document its version of events surrounding Operation Al-Aqsa Flood and to reinforce the political and historical framing of the Palestinian struggle in the face of what it views as sustained misinformation and distortion. (ILKHA)
