Iran launches new missile barrage on Israeli cities in retaliation for attacks on Tehran

Sirens wailed across Israeli-occupied territories on Sunday as Iran launched a new wave of ballistic missile strikes targeting Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Ashkelon, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing confrontation between the Islamic Republic and the Israeli regime.
The operation, named True Promise 3, comes in direct retaliation for Israeli strikes on Iranian soil, including deadly attacks on residential areas in Tehran and the assassination of senior Iranian military officials. In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) initiated a broad missile campaign against key Israeli cities.
According to informed sources, the Iranian response followed reports that the Israeli regime had detonated at least five car bombs in Tehran. Iranian air defenses were reportedly successful in intercepting a wave of Israeli airstrikes that accompanied the ground-based attacks.
The conflict intensified dramatically after Israeli forces began operations inside Iran late Friday, targeting civilian infrastructure and residential buildings in and around Tehran. In response, Iran vowed a severe and sustained reaction. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei appointed new military commanders and issued a strong warning, stating that “life would turn bleak for Israel.”
Iranian officials have confirmed that the retaliatory strikes will continue as long as deemed necessary, signaling that Operation True Promise 3 is part of a broader strategy to counter continued Israeli aggression.
