Iranian and Turkish FMs call for immediate action to end Israeli attacks on Gaza
Iranian and Turkish foreign ministers jointly called for urgent measures to halt Israeli regime’s ongoing attacks on Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, underscoring the importance of regional cooperation and solidarity.
At a press conference in Tehran on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan highlighted the need to stop the crimes committed against the innocent Palestinian people and stressed the shared responsibility of the international community.
Araghchi emphasized that Iran and Turkey share deep historical, cultural, and strategic ties, describing the two nations as not only neighbors but also “friendly and brotherly countries.” He noted that the borders between the two nations have long served as a symbol of peace and friendship.
Bilateral trade between the two countries, Araghchi said, is witnessing steady growth, and officials from both sides are working to remove remaining trade barriers. He also announced that Iran’s consulate general in Van, Turkey, will be reopened in the near future, reinforcing the countries’ diplomatic and economic cooperation.
Fidan, in turn, thanked his Iranian counterpart for the hospitality and described the talks as constructive and comprehensive, covering a wide range of issues including bilateral relations, regional developments, and mutual areas of concern.
The foreign ministers also discussed critical regional issues, including Gaza, Palestine, Lebanon, and Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, stressing the urgent need for international action to stop the violence.
Both ministers concluded the press conference by reiterating the call for an immediate end to Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the protection of Palestinian civilians and the importance of preserving peace and stability in the region. (ILKHA)
