Iraq reopens southern airspace to civilian flights following Iran-Israel ceasefire

Iraq’s Ministry of Transport announced on Tuesday the reopening of southern airspace to civilian air traffic, following the implementation of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel that has de-escalated regional tensions.
In an official statement, the Ministry confirmed that steps are underway to fully restore operations at all airports across the country, signaling a gradual return to normalcy after days of restricted aviation activity.
During the recent period of heightened conflict, Basra International Airport remained the only operational hub in Iraq, functioning under limited daylight-hour schedules. The rest of Iraq’s airspace had been closed due to security concerns tied to the cross-border hostilities between Israel and Iran.
Authorities expressed hope that the resumption of flights will help stabilize transportation networks and restore confidence in regional air safety. (ILKHA)
