IRGC announces drone strikes on Israeli airbases and Shin Bet headquarters
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that it carried out a drone attack targeting several Israeli military and intelligence facilities in occupied Palestinian territory, according to a statement released on Thursday.
In the statement, the IRGC said its forces launched a coordinated assault using destructive drones against key Israeli military installations, including the Palmachim Airbase and Ovda Airbase, as well as the headquarters of Shin Bet.
According to the IRGC statement, the drone strikes focused on several critical components of the targeted bases, including observation towers, runways, and aircraft hangars.
The Palmachim Airbase, located south of Tel Aviv, is considered an important Israeli military facility. The base is used for satellite launches and missile testing and hosts advanced defense systems such as David's Sling, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles including the Hermes 900.
The IRGC also named Ovda Airbase as one of the targets in the operation. The facility is known as a key training base for the Israeli Air Force and has historically hosted advanced aircraft during joint exercises, including F-22 Raptor deployments.
In addition to the airbases, the IRGC said it targeted the headquarters of Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security agency. The organization plays a central role in coordinating domestic intelligence operations, protecting senior officials, and securing sensitive facilities.
The IRGC described the operation as part of its broader military campaign targeting Israeli strategic infrastructure. Israeli authorities have not immediately provided detailed confirmation regarding the reported strikes.
The developments come amid escalating tensions and ongoing military exchanges in the region, raising concerns about a widening confrontation involving multiple actors across the Middle East. (ILKHA)
