Yemeni announces missile and drone attacks on oil facilities, airport in Saudi Arabia
Yemeni forces said the operation targeted Aramco facilities in Dhahran and Riyadh, as well as King Khalid International Airport, in response to the ongoing Saudi aggression against Yemen.
Yemen’s Armed Forces, affiliated with the authorities in Sanaa, have announced a military operation targeting Saudi oil facilities in Dhahran and Riyadh, as well as King Khalid International Airport, using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones.
In a statement, the Yemeni Armed Forces said the operation was carried out in response to Saudi attacks on Sanaa and other areas under their control, describing the strikes as part of efforts to deter further aggression against Yemen.
The statement accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out 2,281 airstrikes and missile attacks against Yemen during the latest escalation, alleging that the attacks had caused widespread destruction and inflicted harm on the country’s population.
The Yemeni forces said the operation targeted Aramco facilities in Dhahran, in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, an Aramco refinery in Riyadh and King Khalid International Airport.
They claimed the strikes were precise and caused destruction and fires at the targeted sites. These claims have not been independently verified.
The Yemeni Armed Forces said operations against targets deep inside Saudi Arabia would continue in the coming days, with airports and oil facilities among the sites they said could face further attacks.
The statement also warned international shipping companies, civilians and employees working at the targeted airports and facilities to stay away from the sites and evacuate them, declaring that they had become legitimate targets for its forces.
The announcement marks a further escalation in the confrontation between the Sanaa authorities and Saudi Arabia, with Yemen’s forces signalling their intention to continue military operations unless their demands are met.
The Yemeni Armed Forces said they would continue targeting what they described as Saudi military build-ups and maintaining pressure on the kingdom until attacks on Yemen ceased and the siege on the country was lifted.
“We will continue to impose the equation of siege for siege and escalation for escalation,” the statement said.
The forces framed the operation as part of their broader effort to deter attacks on Yemen and compel Saudi Arabia to end its military campaign and restrictions against the country.
The statement did not provide independently verifiable details on the extent of the damage or whether the strikes caused casualties. Saudi authorities’ response was not included in the information available. (ILKHA)
