Israeli fire kills Palestinian civilian, injures several others in Gaza
At least one Palestinian civilian was killed and several others were injured on Wednesday as Israeli occupation forces continued their violations of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for the 76th consecutive day, according to medical and local media sources.
Sources reported that a Palestinian citizen was shot dead and two others were wounded by Israeli gunfire in Jabalia al-Balad, north of Gaza. In a separate incident, three more civilians sustained bullet injuries after Israeli forces opened fire east of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.
The escalation continued in the early hours of Wednesday when Israeli warplanes carried out two airstrikes on Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip. At the same time, Israeli armored vehicles reportedly fired toward tents sheltering displaced families in the al-Mawasi area, further endangering civilians who had already been forced from their homes.
Israeli artillery attacks were also reported in multiple locations across the besieged enclave. Shelling targeted the eastern parts of al-Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City, as well as northeastern areas of the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.
Meanwhile, deteriorating weather conditions have worsened the humanitarian crisis. Renewed rainfall flooded the makeshift tents of displaced Palestinian families, many of whom are living without adequate shelter, heating, or basic services. The flooding has compounded an already dire situation, as Palestinians continue to face severe shortages of housing alternatives following nearly two years of relentless war and destruction.
Humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned that ongoing military attacks, combined with displacement, damaged infrastructure, and harsh weather, are pushing Gaza’s civilian population deeper into catastrophe, particularly women, children, and the elderly.
Despite repeated calls for accountability and protection of civilians, Israeli forces continue military operations across the Gaza Strip, claiming lives and worsening an already unprecedented humanitarian emergency. (ILKHA)
