Israeli forces kidnap dozens of Palestinians in widespread West Bank raids
Israeli occupation forces (IOF) abducted dozens of Palestinians, including a journalist, during a series of overnight and dawn raids across several areas of the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, according to Palestinian sources.
The Palestinian Prisoner Society reported that journalist Ashwaq Awad, a former detainee, was kidnapped after Israeli forces stormed and ransacked her family home in Beit Ummar, north of al-Khalil (Hebron). Her detention has raised renewed concerns over the targeting of Palestinian journalists amid the ongoing escalation across the occupied territories.
In the nearby town of ash-Shuyukh, northeast of al-Khalil, Israeli forces also abducted a father and his son after breaking into their home during the raids.
Further north, in the Ramallah district, two young Palestinian men were taken prisoner following IOF incursions into al-Jalazon refugee camp and the town of Rantis, where homes were searched and residents interrogated.
Palestinian sources said Israeli forces launched a particularly wide arrest campaign in the village of al-Mazra’a al-Gharbiya, northwest of Ramallah. Dozens of residents were detained for field questioning, while three young men were kidnapped after their homes were forcibly raided.
In the Salfit governorate, IOF units detained nine Palestinians, including an elderly man and his son, during night raids in the town of Bruqin. Witnesses reported that homes were violently searched, with property damaged during the incursions.
Israeli forces were also reported to have carried out raids in other areas of the West Bank, though no additional arrests were confirmed at the time of reporting.
The latest detention campaign comes amid a sharp increase in Israeli military operations across the occupied West Bank, with Palestinian human rights organizations warning of mass arrests, home invasions, and the systematic targeting of journalists, former detainees, and young men as part of broader collective punishment policies.
