Macron questions israel’s goal of destroying Hamas

French President Emmanuel Macron questioned the credibility of Israel's goal to destroy Hamas, stating that the zionist government needs to define its objectives more clearly.
Macron, who was attending the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Dubai, urged the israeli government to clarify its objectives and endgame in the ongoing conflict with the Palestinians.
“Does anyone really think it is possible to completely destroy Hamas? If that is the case, the war will last 10 years,” he said.
Macron claimed that israel’s right to defend itself from rocket attacks, but stressed the need to respect international law and avoid civilian casualties. He said that security achieved at the cost of Palestinian lives would not be sustainable for Israel.
Macron also denied any double standards from France, saying that all lives are equal. He called for a ceasefire and a political solution to the crisis. (ILKHA)
