A moderate earthquake struck off the coast of East Timor, with no tsunami warning issued and no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck off the coast of East Timor on Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The USGS said the earthquake's epicenter was located about 250 kilometers northeast of Lospalos, a city in northeastern East Timor. The quake occurred at a depth of 111.8 kilometers.
Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) measured the earthquake at magnitude 6.2, reflecting differences in calculations between seismic monitoring agencies.
No tsunami warning or damage reports
No tsunami warning was issued following the earthquake, and authorities had not reported any casualties or property damage as of the latest updates.
