Over 1,400 Afghan nationals return home after release from Pakistani detention
Afghanistan's Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has confirmed that 1,416 Afghan nationals were released from detention in Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan over the past week..
The ministry repoted tha the majority of those detained had been arrested for lacking valid entry visas or other legal documentation required to remain in Pakistan.
1,083 returnees crossed back into Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing in Nangarhar Province, while another 333 entered the country via the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar Province, according to the ministry.
Upon their arrival, the repatriated Afghans received humanitarian assistance from relevant authorities and aid organizations to help meet their immediate needs. Officials said the returnees have since been assisted in continuing their journeys to their respective home provinces.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to supporting returning Afghan citizens through coordination with humanitarian partners, providing emergency assistance, and facilitating their reintegration into local communities.
The latest repatriation comes amid the ongoing return of thousands of Afghan nationals from neighboring Pakistan, where authorities have intensified efforts to deport undocumented foreign nationals. Afghan authorities and humanitarian agencies continue to monitor the situation and provide support to returning families facing significant humanitarian and economic challenges. (ILKHA)
