Pakistan to host signing of US-Iran agreement in Geneva, says PM Shehbaz
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the signing of the agreement between the United States and Iran will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, as diplomatic efforts continue to formalize the deal.
Sharif told parliament that Pakistan has been involved in mediation efforts during the negotiations and described the agreement as the result of sustained diplomatic engagement between the parties.
He said the process had faced several challenges but remained on track due to continued dialogue and coordination among mediating countries.
The Pakistani prime minister said the signing ceremony is scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland, according to officials involved in the process.
Sharif expressed appreciation for the diplomatic efforts of regional stakeholders and said Pakistan had consistently supported dialogue and de-escalation throughout the talks.
The agreement, announced earlier by both US and Iranian officials, is expected to be formally signed in Geneva following final technical preparations.
Pakistan has played a mediating role in facilitating contacts between the two sides, according to officials familiar with the talks.(ILKHA)
