Palestinian group ambushes collaborator group in southern Gaza despite Israeli surveillance
Rada, a force affiliated with Palestinian resistance security in the Gaza Strip, said Tuesday that it had killed and wounded members of a group it accused of collaborating with Israel in an ambush in southern Gaza, despite intensive Israeli aerial surveillance.
According to a statement reported by Quds News Network (QNN), the operation took place on October 8 near Abu Hafez well in the Al-Mawasi area of Rafah.
Rada said its members engaged the group at a distance of approximately 20 meters, inflicting casualties. The statement did not specify the number of people killed or wounded.
The force said the operation was carried out despite continuous Israeli surveillance of the area using drones and other monitoring equipment.
Rada said Israeli occupation forces fired artillery shells and smoke rounds as attempts were made to evacuate the dead and wounded members of the group.
The statement also accused Israeli forces of bombarding nearby homes and tents sheltering displaced Palestinians, leaving several civilians wounded.
QNN said the account was consistent with information it had reported at the time, citing eyewitnesses to the confrontation.
The reported shelling further endangered civilians already displaced by Israel’s military campaign, many of whom are living in makeshift shelters under precarious conditions.
Rada said it would continue its operations against groups it described as collaborators, declaring its intention to pursue and dismantle them.
The force also thanked Palestinians who, according to its statement, had reported suspected collaborators and assisted in their apprehension.
QNN reported that resistance-affiliated security forces had conducted several ambushes targeting alleged collaborator groups since the beginning of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
The network said these operations had inflicted casualties on the groups despite what it described as support from the Israeli military.
The latest reported confrontation comes amid the continuing conflict in Gaza, where Palestinians face persistent security threats, displacement and a deepening humanitarian crisis. (ILKHA)
