President Erdoğan meets with Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif in Baku
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on the sidelines of the 5th anniversary commemorations of the Karabakh Victory.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Pakistan, along with key regional and global developments. Both sides expressed their commitment to further deepening cooperation across multiple sectors, particularly in trade, energy, and the defense industry.
President Erdoğan highlighted that Türkiye and Pakistan share strong historical and cultural ties, and that Ankara is determined to enhance collaboration for mutual prosperity and security. He stated that Türkiye closely follows the recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan as well as the ongoing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining the recently achieved ceasefire between the two neighbors, Erdoğan expressed hope that the ongoing dialogue — facilitated under Türkiye’s auspices — will bring lasting stability to the region.
The Turkish President reaffirmed that Türkiye will continue to contribute actively to this process through diplomatic support and regional engagement.
Turning to the situation in Gaza, President Erdoğan underscored the urgent need to preserve the fragile ceasefire and to ensure that the matter is followed up within the framework of the United Nations. He reiterated Türkiye’s principled stance in favor of justice, peace, and the protection of innocent civilians in the Palestinian territories.
The meeting in Baku once again reaffirmed the deep-rooted partnership and shared vision between Türkiye and Pakistan for peace, stability, and cooperation across the Muslim world. (ILKHA)
